euth's weekly download - early september 2026
what’s up music lovers? haven’t found a ton of hot newness this week so i thought we might talk about a cool record label if that’s okay with you.
public possession is a record label, clothing brand, and physical store in munich germany. started in 2012 “to emphasise the relationship between music, text, graphic design and happenings.’ lets get into some music.
chill pill III
the chill pill comps were what brought this label to my attention, i think specifically the andras track on this one, cp3. they are a good entry into the label. the mix of background-able breezy chill with an unmistakably refined sensibility. all the chill pill comps are essential, perfect to put on in so many situations. so often a great, strange track comes up on one of my playlists and at this point i just know it’s probably from a chill pill comp. essential magic. eight editions for you to enjoy.

to address their aspirations to put graphic design in conversation with music a bit, take a look at what’s on offer in the shop. i will refrain from putting too many words to their approach to graphic design, but i will say that it resonates with the music they release. there is a shared relationship to taste, effort, mainstream/alternative, mass/niche, and the way they engage with these trends is unique in my experience.
more music
kaazi - earth e
this ep from kaazi spurred this newsletter, and is pure magic. kaazi is 1/3 of asa tone, the trio whose forthcoming LP is sounding like a strong contender for aoty. this is a collection of breezy melodic house music. a set of gentle embraces. uplifting, gentle, warm. just immaculate. reflective of one of the label’s pillars, off kilter transcendent house music. see also
rip swirl - perfectly blue
to represent their other flank, this LP from RIP swirl shows off their chill/pop side. here rip swirl perfects the blend of downtempo, shoegaze, and pop so many have been fumbling with in the years since. a wonderful album i wrote about in my aoty list for 2024.
public possession -
i don’t have the mental capacity to explicate the links represented across public possessions identity as a shop,& record label. i will have to trust their work to speak for itself, and that it communicates to you the same deep understanding of the current global cultural moment that it does for me. maybe most interesting to me is their appeals to normalcy and to the mainstream, likely spurred by their regular existence as a retail space in a major city which must cater not only to their own community. dig deep there’s a lot to love.
